Starting in 2000 I began creating short multimedia promotional biographies of Gothic, Industrial, Electronica, EDM, IDM, Noise, Techno, Dark Pop, Electro Punk and Black Metal artists in Macromedia's Director/Shock Wave Format(SWF) and Flash. In 2015 I converted over 200 animations from Flash to HTML5 code and in 2017 I again converted the features to Mpeg4 YouTube Movies. These are my historical archives...

Summer/Fall 2006

Well for reason I just can't understand the number of submissions to my web zine has taken a dramatic downward turn over the last year or so. Maybe it's the "hand-held" sized format I switched to. After all, 260X280 doesn't translate very well to a full size PC screen and not everyone is using a Pocket-PC and Flash. The future may be unfolding before our eyes in the form of Apples I-Phone, but Steve Jobs has decided that Flash is not be a part of it. Anyway, I am just not getting enough submissions to warrant monthly issues anymore, so I am going Bi-annual for now.

This collection is heavy on the European, especially German with new releases from STERIL, MASSIV IN MENSCH and ex-KMFDM member SCHULTZ. Throw in a debut from Oslo, my old friends Midnight Syndicate latest and finally, "The Dark Third" by Pure Reason Revolution.

(Flash forward 8 years) Flash appears to be dead. Modern phones and tablets no longer have players available for them and I have begun to translate my old Flash features to HTML5 which even Apple products are able to play back natively using the web browser.

About the author

RG Geiger has been a visual artist since a very young age. His creativity with technology began with the Commodore 64 where he learned machine language and BASIC programming. Next, he utilized that knowledge to explore the ATARI ST and was published in the first edition of COMPUTES! First Book of ATARI ST. Then moving on to a Windows PC he learned Macromedia Director to created CD-ROM presentations and then Macromedia Flash (later bought by Adobe) to create this Ezine. Since then his concentration has been various web technologies to maintain and expand his internet presence. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Public Communication from the University of Alaska with an emphasis in graphic design and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Penn State. Under the name Bytet he released a vanity CD of original Electro Gothic music and has appeared on 18 International darkwave compilations in the 90s from France, Italy, Canada and the United States.

Would you or your represented artist like to be featured in a future issue of our zine? you must be prepared to give us permission to use images and words from your web site and/or press kit. Loop creates an animated biography for your project. It can also be very auto-biographical as we often will merely mirror your web content using your own words in our interactive musical animations. Loop uses this multimedia production to highlight your current available product. You must also be willing to give permission to Loop to sample from 20 to 40 seconds of your music for this production. Loop prefers to receive this product along with your press kit. E-mailed Electronic Press kits will not be accepted.
