Starting in 2000 I began creating short multimedia promotional biographies of Gothic, Industrial, Electronica, EDM, IDM, Noise, Techno, Dark Pop, Electro Punk and Black Metal artists in Macromedia's Director/Shock Wave Format(SWF) and Flash. In 2015 I converted over 200 animations from Flash to HTML5 code and in 2017 I again converted the features to Mpeg4 YouTube Movies. These are my historical archives...
Winter 2005
Submissions were a little off this quarter. Not the usual weekly features but I can't complain as I have nine excellent bands for your enjoyment and education. Less than half the acts are from America but the biggest has to be New York's Suicide. I remember getting their vinyl records in the 70's and being amazed by the pure analogue electro punk sounds.
Something a little more 90s is L.A.s FAKE, or Chicago's PTI. Finally there is some Pittsburg goth courtesy of Lazy Lane and true art electro from Texas by Fenton Feckler.
This quarter's selection of international artists cover a spectrum of musical styles too. From France, Rauwolfia and From Australia, Zeitgeist who would go on to submit many more projects to PockLoop/LoopZine as the years unwind. Another Australian band is Witchkrieg with a bit more hard core sound. Last but not least is a favorite of mine from Canada, DROOM.
Flash forward eight years. it's a shame that so many of the links to the bands which are always featured at the end of my animations, today are broken. Of course some of the bands only had a presence at mp3.com a pioneering music site that crashed and burned (along with my stock in them HA!). So it's up to you, if you heard or see something you like you might just have to do some searching.
At least one site where I have many links to, CDBaby is still alive and kicking.
